One day when I was fifteen or so, I went to a pharmacy and they happened to be selling a ton of beauty goods for £1.20 each. I literally spent 15 minutes rummaging through their ‘sale’ box, and when I got home I was so excited by my purchases that I wanted to tell someone. Butttt – I knew none of my friends would really care to hear me bang on about the consistency of the lip gloss I bought or about what makes the bristles of the mascara I bought better than the one I owned before, so I decided that day that I’d create a blog. Skylish Beauty was born, and it eventually integrated into also being a style and lifestyle blog too. It’s one of the greatest decisions that I’ve ever made as it’s meant I get to go to amazing events, participate in activities that I otherwise wouldn’t have, work with some pretty impressive brands and of course meet some amazing people. Last week I went to the Voucher Codes Swap Shop, and I remember at one point looking around at the rails of clothes, room full of bloggers and free Annie Maes and literally having this blog intro write itself into my mind…
The concept, my friends, was genius. We were each asked to bring along 5 unused items in our wardrobes and we were given stamps for these items depending on their quality and on how high end they were. The items were all arranged onto rails, and after being greeted with some free cocktails, we were unleashed. When I shop, I always feel like I’m on a mission to find good items. There were so many amazing items, and I felt as though I was pretty much getting them for free, as although they were in exchange of other items I owned, those were items that for one reason or the other, never saw light of day.
I ended up leaving with some new heeled ankle boots, two daytime dresses, one sequinned black dress, a blue skirt and a goody bag full of more cute items. Very successful day indeed. Thank you to Voucher Codes for hosting the evening and for inviting me!
In other news, I’ve been ranked #73 in RebatesZone’s top 100 beauty blogs! You can check that infographic out here.
I noticed this on Stephs blog “Faiiint” 🙂 Look like a great event and I always use Voucher Codes when shopping online! Sounds like you had an amazing time! xx

I often wonder why people have started their blogs, and yours is a great reason! The Swap Shop looks a brilliant idea, and lots of fun! It’s great knowing someone else will get use from something you’ve just been hoarding away, and you got some great new stuff too! I hope they do another event like that soon!
