2014 in Words and 2015 Resolutions

2014, as I said in my last post, was a weird one. Since year twelve, I’ve ended every year with a resounding – “yep, that was probably the best year of my life.” But with 2014, even though I wanted to feel like I had the past two years, I really didn’t. In most ways, 2014 was absolutely amazing, in others it really wasn’t that great at all…

2014 in blogging…

This has definitely been a prosperous year for my blog. I have had the chance this year to work with so many amazing brands, all the way from New Look, to John Frieda, Currys and more. I was actually just sieving through some of my blog posts from this year realising how many amazing opportunities I’ve actually had. I also attended a lot more blogger events this year, a few of my favourites being the Bloggers Festival, VC Swap Shop and Hint Hunt with Joe Blogs. I am truly grateful and genuinely very happy to be a blogger.

2014 in accomplishments…

In terms of accomplishments – 2014 has been perfect for this. I started 2014 off by finally passing my driving test, which I had previously failed twice. A week or two later, I got a call telling me I had been given a place to do a one week spring internship as one of the biggest investment banks in the world. As the year went on I secured another smaller, part time summer internship at a commodities pricing firm which was a lot of fun, I also managed to get a good 2.1 in my first year of exams, despite spending my first term doing… not very much. By the winter time, I was a student brand ambassador for The Economist, living in a flat in central London with three of my closest friends, and had secured another, 9 week summer internship for 2015 in a different, huge investment bank.

2014 in friendship…

The bulk of 2014 included my first year of uni, and this year I have met some amazing people. I wrote about this in my freshers tips post; I came to uni truly determined to meet friends that were a replica of my girls from home (who I love). However this year I have met people from all over the world, from different backgrounds, with different lifestyles, and these people have proven to be very amazing friends to me.

2014 in lessons…

2014 has given me more self confidence and belief in my abilities (I mean, I came to uni 100% sure I would be the dumbest person there). If anything, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is how not to ever allow myself to be treated. I’ve learned about the types of people I need in my life, and the types of people I really do not. I am definitely not the same girl I was this time last year at all, and life is a lot better because of it.

And finally…

2015 resolutions…

1. Improve my lifestyle by eating healthier and exercising more
2. Switch up my style – invest in high quality pieces, rather than pieces that look nice but don’t last
3. Leave second year with a 1st or a 2.1
4. Leave 2015 with a graduate offer for a career I would love
5. Try and wash my make up brushes more often…
6. Continue to improve this website
7. Surround myself with positive people

Hopefully I can stick to these!
