Christmas Party Looks: 1 Dress, 3 Ways

Please check out SKYLISH.CO.UK for the new look. You are currently reading this blog via Bloglovin’ or on my old interface as the new website is integrated to Bloglovin’ (I know I’ve said this for a while – but I will get it sorted!)

In the spirit of blogging more consciously (see my last post)… and, with Christmas party and Christmas events either around the corner or already upon us… I’m teaming up with Oasis today to bring you three Christmas party outfits. But the catch is – it’s one outfit styled in three different ways. This can be for three different parties; or, depending on what your style is and what floats your boat, you can draw inspiration from one outfit. I actually intend to wear exactly this dress on Christmas day (thanks Oasis!), I’ll likely go for the “smart casual” look.

I. Casual

This first look is for the ladies that (i) aren’t all about the high heels and (ii) are a bit “smart” with their dressing – i.e., don’t want to freeze for the sake of fashion. Throw some faux fur on top (this coat from Zara always makes anything I’m wearing feel more glamorous), slide on some Chelsea boots and tights and keep it moving. Super cosy, pretty casual, but the dress gives it that effortlessly feminine feel. The colour is also perfect for the occasion.

II. Girly

Now this is the look I’ll go for this Christmas. I really love wearing ankle boots because they give you the look you seek with heels but are also easier to walk around in that you standard stiletto and prevent you from looking too overdressed. Actually, when I go to meetings these are the types of boots I tend to reach for (I prefer a thin heel vs. a thick heel for meetings as the thick heel starts to feel more trendy). This look let you show a little leg but also keeps the whole outfit modest due the the dress that is both high-necked but also with a sleeve. I’m one for nice, small, compact bags that are easy to carry around, and this one here is an oldy but a goody.

III. Smart and sophisticated

A blazer is always by go-to when I want to take an outfit to that “smart” and “business-y” realm. I threw this one over the shoulder for an effortlessly chic look, and paired the look with some heels that show a little bit more foot action as that make the look a little smarter than, for example, ankle boots do. Can we also just admire this super cute spot myself and Marianne came across!

What is your “Christmas style”? I’ll admit – there have been years when I’ve come dressed to the 9s in a cute dress (as above), and there have been years when I’ve shown up with a Christmas jumper and some jeans (or even leggings). When it comes to Christmas parties – I am definitely more a dress girl, but try to take the dress away from being too formal and somewhere in the circle of “smart casual”.
