In this tutorial I will take you on a step by step guide to creating the an icon similar to the icon displayed on the left. The icon displayed on the left was extremely quick and easy to make. The quote used on the icon was from the book Twilight... I think. All I know is that it's connected to Twilight somehow. This tutorial requires Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop.

To begin with, create a new blank image sized 100 x 100. Fill in the background #EFEFEF at 100% opacity. Next, duplicate your base layer and go to Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise, match your settings to mine below:
Monochrome
Uniform
Noise: 50%
Set that layer to Normal at 14%, then merge together all of your layers.
After, take a white Scratch Texture (the one I'm using can be found here) and paste it over your image as a new layer (CTRL+L), set that layer to Darken at 100%.

Merge all of your layers together. Then, create a new raster layer and simply use it to contain your text. I've made one word, which I plan to animate later, much bigger than the other word.

Merge all of your layers together and paste the image into Animation Shop, duplicate it three times. Returning to your Paint Shop Pro image; unmerge your layers (by pressin undo). Take () tool and highlight over your first letter.

Press Delete and repaste it again (CTRL+E), a couple of pixels down. Use (CTRL+D) to lock it into place, then merge all of your layers together again. Paste this into your Animation Shop aswell.

Again, return to your Paint Shop Pro image and press undo until your layers are no longer merged and you are returned to your original image. Repeat this step on each of your letters, repasting them onto Animation Shop one by one.
