In this tutorial I will take you on a step by step guide to creating the an icon similar to the icon displayed on the left. The icon displayed on the left was extremely quick and easy to make. The quote used on the icon was from from Michael Jacksons song "You Rock My World". This tutorial requires Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop.

To begin with, create a new blank image sized 100 x 100. Fill in the background white at 100% opacity. Then create two new raster layers. On the top raster layer, write in any text you want the icon to contain.

Now select the second layer and the brush tool, match your settings to mine below:
Size: 10
Hardness: 50
Step: 32
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 0
Blend Mode: Normal
I've used the colour #F59DBA but you can use whatever colour you want. Add some scribbles behind your text.

Selecting your top layer go to Layers > Merge > Merge Down. Then merge all of your layers together, paste this image onto Animation Shop and duplicate it four times. After you've done this, go back to your Paint Shop Pro image and press undo, so that we're returned to 2 layers.

Select your background layer and create three more raster layers. In these layers add any three objects you'd like to be flying out, like the example on the right.

Merge all of your layers together and paste that image onto Animation Shop. Then, return to your Paint Shop Pro image and press undo. From this point, all you do is use () tool, to move each thing flying out of the image slightly. Then you merge all of your layers together, paste the image on Animation Shop then return to Paint Shop Pro. Repeat this until all the things are out of the image.
