In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to make version one of Skylish. This layout, although very simple in design wouldn't have worked well without creative coding. And because this is a graphic tutorial, and not a coding tutorial, I'll combine the full layout into one header and teach you how to make it.
To begin with paste this (
) pattern as a new image on your Paint Shop Pro. Then create a new image sized 881 x 121. Using the fill tool, click on the first colour once and a box should pop up, and the top of it click 'Patterns', and a list of patterns should show up. Click the stripe that we previously made a new image. Click onto your blank image with this pattern now once, and a stripey background should appear across your header.
Now, take any bold font and write your site name on it. I'm using the font 'Capure it' (from Da Font) at a colour of #3E2D24. Once you have written the text, copy it (CTRL+C), press undo, and paste it again as a new layer, duplicate that layer once. Go over the top of this layer with this (
) tool.
Now that the top half is highlighted, go to Adjust > Brightness and Contrast > Brightness/Contrast and brighten it to 100%. Press CTRL+D to lock the dots in place, then set the top layer to 30% opacity. Merge all of your layers together. I've added another 'Skylish.co.uk', just about my title in cursive writing, I've also dropshadowed it at a low opacity and merged all of my layers together again.
Create a new raster layer, and on either side of your header add some floral brushes with the color #D8D8D8. Don't just prop these brushes anywhere, be smart with it, don't over fill you header, and try to make your brushes connect. Put some on either side of your writing. I got my brushes from: here. Once you're done, merge all of your layers together.
To finish off my header, I'm going to create a new raster layer, and on that raster layer I'm going to add a number of small black stars, and small circles at a color of #AF907F, and place them around my image. I did this using this (
) tool.
Once you're finished, merge all of your layers together - and you're done!
